RECITAL REPERTOIRE

Sergei Rachmaninoff - Prelude in G minor Op.23 No.5

Felix Mendelssohn - Caprice op.33 no.1 A minor

Samuel Barber - Excursions op.30

I want to explore other possibilities of sounds beyond the sounds of the acoustic piano. With this project I aim at combining the aesthetics of electronic music with those classical gestures. Recreating sounds from the repertoire above, using the melodies and themes from each piece, remixing them to create new versions and relating them to imaginary stories I created dealing with the character of each piece.

Similar to what I did last year, I interpret what I play on the piano and make up imaginative stories to help me bring out the character of the piece easily. So I applied this method to process which sound I want to use for each section of the story in the piece.

For example, Samuel Barber - Excursions op.20 1st Movement has a very mechanical feel on the bass line.

Original Piano Bass
Bass Synth

This theme reminds me of a shadow running away from a hunter up and down stairs inside a building.

This feeling of anxiety fits well with a moist and harsh synthetic bass.

I have always been  interested in interdisciplinary performance. Looking back at last year's project, combining sounds and images, despite performing Bach’s Partita and Debussy’s Estampes on the piano, I realized that the story board I created for the whole show did not connect as much.

Continuing last year's exploration, I’ve decided to collaborate with my close friend Net Jannid who goes to Bangkok University - School of Digital Media And Cinematic Arts, and create animations that fit with the sounds I remix based on the story I portray for each piece.

I am really excited on the outcome of this project and hope you will enjoy what I create.
